 Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich & Transfer to Lucerne

Morning:

  • Arrive at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and collect your Swiss Travel Pass.

  • Board a direct train to Lucerne (approx. 1 hour).
    ✅ Trains are stroller-friendly, with designated family areas.

Afternoon:

  • Check in at a family-friendly hotel in Lucerne. We stayed at Radisson Blu Hotel Lucerne

  • Have a relaxed lunch and let your toddler nap

Evening:

  • Stroll around Lucerne’s charming Old Town, with its painted facades, cobbled streets, and bridges

  • Take a short lake cruise on Lake Lucerne, which is gentle, scenic, and enjoyable for kids. Boats have indoor seating & toilets

  • Dinner at a nearby family-friendly restaurant or hotel (we ate at Tandoori Indian Restaurant), and early rest

Day 2: Mountains of Lucerne – Mount Titlis & Mount Rigi

Morning:

  • Take a train to Engelberg and ride the revolving cable car up Mount Titlis.
    - Snow play areas & gentle walks make it a toddler favorite.
    - Carry layers & sunscreen even in summer — snow glare can be strong.

Afternoon:

  • Return to Lucerne and continue to Mount Rigi, accessible by the world’s oldest cogwheel train.
    -  Easy walking trails, picnic areas, and panoramic views await you
    -  Rigi is less crowded and more toddler-friendly than other peaks

Evening:

  • Return to Lucerne for overnight stay.

Day 3: Scenic Train Journey & Interlaken Exploration

Morning:

  • Board the GoldenPass Line to Interlaken — a breathtaking 2-hour scenic train ride.
    - Family compartments & large windows make it enjoyable for little ones

  • Check in to your hotel in Interlaken:
    We stayed at Hotel Beausite Interlaken

Afternoon:

  • Nap/rest at the hotel.

  • If time permits, head to the Panorama Trail (Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg) — an easy, mostly flat walk with playground stops and panoramic alpine views.
    -  Cable car access & stroller-friendly

  • We skipped and just rest at the hotel

Evening:

  • Dinner & overnight in Interlaken.


 

Day 4: Jungfrau Region Adventure

Morning:

  • Take the iconic train journey to Jungfraujoch — Top of Europe, starting from Interlaken.
    - Play in the snow, visit the Ice Palace, and take family photos with the incredible views
    - Bring plenty of water, snacks, and warm clothes — even in summer!

Afternoon:

  • Return to Interlaken.

  • Take a gentle boat ride on Lake Brienz — a relaxing way to spend the afternoon while your toddler enjoys the views or naps on your lap

Evening:

  • Visit a local playground or enjoy a relaxed dinner

  • Overnight in Interlaken.


 

Day 5: Zurich Zoo & Old Town Exploration

Morning:

  • Travel back to Zurich by train (about 2 hours).

  • Store luggage at your hotel or train station.

  • Visit Zurich Zoo, home to over 380 species, with playgrounds and plenty of shady paths for little ones.

Afternoon:

  • Stroll through Zurich’s Altstadt (Old Town).
    Optional: take a water taxi ride on the Limmat River or let your toddler enjoy a carousel ride.
    Optional: visit the Lindt Chocolate Factory — a sweet ending to your trip!

  • We visited Lindt factory and the entire family, including our kid, loved it!

Evening:

  • Return to your hotel or prepare for your flight home.
